IMG_6614

Catching up…Blue Lagoon, Golden Circle, Street Art, Learning Icelandic, Supermarket Tour and a Change of Plans. Traditional Icelandic cuisine consists of lamb, dairy and fish but there is every type of restaurant throughout the city of Reykjavik. I think we ate a variety of food groups and cuisines. A Supermarket Called Bonus

IMG_6639

Catching up….Blue Lagoon, Golden Circle Tour, Street Art and Learning Icelandic. The grocery store in Rekyjavik is called Bonus. The items that needed to be in the refrigerator were in a cold room that was separate from the store. Bagels! All of the prices were digital.  Everyone should have that! Great cereal choices…Unlike the choices in London. …

Golden Circle Tour In Iceland

IMG_6668

Did you miss my post about the Blue Lagoon? The next tour we did was of the Golden Circle with Iceland Excursions. The Golden Circle consists of 3 attractions in the south of Iceland. We stopped at the national park Þingvellir (Thingvellir in English), the waterfall Gullfoss (which means golden falls), and the geothermally active valley of Haukadalur, which has …

Engagement Trumps Birthdays

The first 24 hours in NYC were epic. It started out at dinner with Jon to celebrate my birthday and our anniversary and ended with a Saturday brunch with the besties celebrating our engagement. From this: to this: to this: Rewind to the beginning…we got into NY around 4pm.  We were staying at a hotel because Jon’s parents were …

Home Is Where The Heart Is

You hear that phrase over and over but no matter how many times you hear it it’s still true. I’m heading home for a month and I couldn’t be more excited to see my family and friends.  My 27th (wow) birthday is on Saturday so I can celebrate it at home which makes me ecstatic to say …

ABCs of ME

I’ve seen some bloggers play the ABC game so I wanted to join in on the fun. A. Age: 26 but I’ll be 27 in 40 days! B. Bed size: The Brits call it a king but I’d say it’s more of a queen. C. Chore you hate: Cleaning the bathroom. D. Dogs: Dogs.  Jon …

Family Time

They came, they saw, they conquered. The family hit all of the important spots (including a near death experience at Abbey Road). We did a pub tour of my neighborhood and found our new “local” pub.  Walmer Castle is amazing.  The thai restaurant is delicious and then you can move downstairs to lounge in comfy …

Welcome Bag Ready To Go

My family are on the plane right now.  Almost here! I made up a cute little welcome bag for them when they arrived at the hotel. A couple cupcakes from Lola’s (www.lolas-kitchen.co.uk/) and a bottle of Beaujolais Nouveau 2010 (which I know my Dad loves). The cupcakes are strawberry, rocky road, peanut butter & coconut. …

Soooo Excited!!!

In 4 days my family will be here!  I’ve planned out the week, made reservations for tea and dinners, and made an itinerary for them while I’m in class.  I CAN’T WAIT!!! We are a crazy family but I’m sure most would consider their family crazy also.  We laugh at the littlest thing and just …
