Getting Upgraded On Your Next Flight

Gwyneth Paltrow has a blog called Goop.  Are you familiar?

Her latest issue was about flying since she does the transatlantic NY-London flight often. She write it with 2 friends who travel a lot to hear their take on certain flight situations.  The part of the issue that caught my attention was upgrades on flights.  Seth Friedman, a talent manager, says free upgrades are given through airline status on their frequent flyer programs which is completely true.

But the quote that caught my eye was said by an unknown source.

I have been randomly upgraded before and I can say it wasn’t for my clothes.  I don’t look like a bum when I fly but I’m not dressed to the nines either.  I tend to designate two outfits when I travel just for the flights.  I don’t want to be sitting in the outfit for 6+ hours on a stuffy plane and then wear that outfit again to dinner with friends.  It’s just how my crazy mind thinks.

We have several flights coming up this summer and it would be great to get a free upgrade so maybe I should try this little tip from the unknown source……ehhhh.
