A Weekend In Zermatt
It’s so cold in London it might as well snow.
I haven’t worn sandals yet. I have only worn jeans or dresses with tights. I wear a jacket everyday. IT’S JULY!!
I prefer extremes so either snow or heat. Since this weather is closer to the snow let’s imagine a ski weekend away.
Zermatt, Switzerland is a spot I’ve always wanted to go. I’ve been to Interlaken and I assume it’s similar but minus the study abroad kids running around the town.
The ski conditions there are fantastic. I grew up skiing in New Jersey and Pennsylvania which is a joke now that I’ve skied the Swiss Alps.
You can rent Zermatt Chalets for a week where everything is taken care of for you and you just ski in – ski out. The Chalets could include a chef, pool, spa area, steam room, sauna, and heated boot racks in the ski room. That sounds like heaven to me.
After a long day of skiing in perfect conditions it would be a dream to come back to the chalet to a home cooked meal and a delicious glass of wine sitting right beside the plate.
The actual town of Zermatt is only a 10-15 minute walk from most of the Chalets which makes it easy to go into town for a change of scenery. The village is car-free also.
And while you are there don’t forget to look out for the Matterhorn, a lop-sided mountain which is usually seen from most parts of Zermatt. It’s a sight not to be missed!
